Pixelling » Wings
This tutorial will show you how to make your own faerie wings on your doll.
1. Using the Paint Brush tool {  }
at 1px, roughly draw using free hand an outline of faerie wings. You may need to try this a
few times to get it right, only draw ONE side of the wing.
To make your pixelling more accurate, you might want to zoom into your image,
as you can see what you are doing easier.
2. Now that you have the basic shape of your wings, using the
Eraser tool {  } at 1px, go around the
image and make sure the outline is only 1px thick.
3. Using the flood fill tool {  }
Flood fill in the colour in the same colour as your outline but in a lighter shade.
4. Now make a new layer, and using a darker shade of the colour you have just filled in your wing with,
scribble the outline, now repeat this step 3 times using a lighter shade each time.
5. Do the same for the other side, using the lightest shade yet, scribble round the opposite side, but don't go
all of the way down, once you are half way down, change your brush opacity to 50, and carry on going.
6. Now to make your shading look smoother, go to Adjust » Blur » Average, and set it to 5.
7. Now make a new layer, to add a bit of a contrast so it is not just the same colour, {I will use blue}
scribble in the center, repeat this 3 times using a lighter colour each time.
8. Then again, we will need to make this shading smoother so it blends in well with the main
colour of the wing, go to Adjust » Blur » Average, and set it to 5, I also flipped this layer (You don't have to do this)
to get the right angle for the shading. I also set this layer to opacity 50%.
9. To give an extra effect, go to the layer you have used to give your wings contrast, and go to
Adjust » Blur » Average, and set it to 20 (make it set on to Uniform,
now do the same for the shading layer.
10. Now for the other wing, go to Layers » Merge Visible. Now go to Layers » Duplicate, Then Image » Mirror.
Now your wing should be symmetrical both sides! Now you have finished you can place your doll in the middle!
